Breville BOV800XL Smart Convection Oven
It says smart and it’s for a reason. This oven has nine settings to choose from in order to pick the best cooking option for your food. With Breville BOV800XL Smart Convection Oven you can toast, broil, bake, reheat, roast, warm, and even slow cook! Honestly, if you are inventive enough you can do almost all cooking in this little magic box.
The Breville BOV800XL Smart convection oven is using IQ Element technology which helps to adjust heating element power to cook food more evenly and quickly. This system distributes heat in the oven where it is needed to cook more efficiently. To give a better example, if you are broiling the Smart Oven will activate 1500W high heat from the top elements to melt and brown from above while toasting needs even cooking from all sides so the convection toaster oven distributes 1800W heat from four elements evenly from above and below.
For our convenience this oven is preset with recommended settings on those nine functions of cooking, but, the best part is, you can customize the settings to your specific recipe, personal taste, or volume of food. The settings will remain until changed or the oven is unplugged from the power outlet.
The Breville Smart Oven is constructed with very durable materials. It is reinforced with stainless steel, elements are composed of quartz, which reacts to heat much faster than metal elements resulting in more even heating in the oven. The interior is coated with non-stick material along with crumb and drip tray which is in front of the oven to make the cleaning between sessions a much faster and easier task. Additionally, this oven comes with three accessories: a pizza pan, baking pan, and a broil rack.
This Smart Oven is perfect in size as well, being 18.5 x 16.25 x 11.25 inches it is bigger than most toaster ovens and can fit six slices of toast, a 13-inch pizza or a whole chicken, however, it is smaller and more compact than a conventional wall oven, consuming less energy and faster cooking.
This oven is very well made with a clean and light interior that allows you to incorporate it into any kitchen. Bigger capacity along with IQ Element technology allows cooking probably any kind of dish you desire. You can even slow-cook and have an alternative to a crockpot. Even being priced much higher than other countertop convection ovens we believe Breville BOV800XL is worth every dollar you spend and is the best convection oven.
Cuisinart CSO-300N Steam Convection Oven
What makes this convection oven exceptional is the function that other countertop convection ovens don’t have. Steam. Along with conventional functions like toast, bake, broil, bread and warm this oven offers steam, steam bake, steam broil, and super steam. Alongside convection technology the steam function allows food to cook up to 40% faster. You can cook anything with Cuisinart CSO-300N, vegetables, fish, poultry, rice, meat, and even bake bread, pretzels, or donuts.
The ordinary convection oven functions like toasting, baking, broiling and warming work fine. There is not much to stand out from other ovens, but there is nothing that works less than expected. So being on the high end of price scale the justification must come from the steam option. And boy do the steam functions make up for the price! The Cuisinart CSO-300N Steam Convection oven comes with 1.4 liter plastic reservoir that allows at least 120 minutes of steam cooking. The Steam functions add steam to the cooking processes and is great for roasting meats and vegetables with no need of adding oil since steam gives moisture. Great for reheating leftovers without drying out. Also can be used to proof breads and then switch to bread function and bake the bread. Finally, the super steam option allows to do what no other convection oven can, cook rice! With this option you can cook a pot of perfect rice in 30 minutes.
This convection oven is very high quality and is made from stainless steel. None no-stick coating that might give harmful vapors to pets and people. Almost no sound when it is operating. Has a steam clean function which made after cooking cleaning very easy and fast. The oven has a blue LCD display and cool circular dial to choose the function you need. However, some people reported that when moving the oven there were some water left that dripped from the oven and sometimes you need to clean water from inside if you move the oven.
Overall, this is a high-end convection oven. It looks very sturdy with its stainless steel body and LCD display. Along with ordinary functions with the steaming opportunity, it justifies its price. The steaming functions open up a lot of options that other convection ovens don’t; rice cooking, roasting moist poultry and meats, steaming vegetables. We also see it as an option for people who want to be making healthier steamed food with fewer oils and fat. However, if you do not see yourself using the steam function there are better options than Cuisinart CSO-300N.
KitchenAid KCO273SS 12″ Convection Bake Digital Countertop Oven – Stainless Steel
Kitchenaid convection oven comes with 9 memory settings for various food items you want to cook with a very easy to read display. You will be able to bake, broil, and crisp with a full-size oven performance. This oven also includes a specialty function – Asado Roast that adjusts temperature for a much better roasting and making pizza get that crispy crust. The oven is roomy enough for 2-12” pizzas has a little more depth than its competitors. It has 3 accessories that include a drip pan, broiling rack, and a baking sheet. Kitchenaid convection oven has 3 positions for cooking so you can set the meal real close to the heating elements for real broil effect, which will cut your cooking time immensely.
What we gathered from a number of reviews is that this oven heats up really quick compared to other convection ovens in the same price range and also does not heat up so much from the outside. In addition, when you set the oven temperature and the timer the oven first heats up to your set temperature then beeps so you can put in food and then start the timer, which is great to perform the recipes that require perfect temperature and perfect timing.
However, there are a couple of cons for KithenAid KCO273SS. It sometimes gets irritating that the oven does not have an internal light and makes it harder to see the food cooking inside, we do love to see our food getting crispy, don’t we? The Pro we mention above about oven preheating first and then starting cooking time to some people seemed to be a disadvantage, because they have to start the preheat and then press start again to start the cooking itself. Finally, KitchenAid KCO273SS 12″ Convection Bake Digital Countertop Oven seems to have a little shorter life span as people would expect, a number of users encountered performance problems just a couple of years after using it.
Still Kitchenaid KCO273SS is at the top of the game with various settings, great display and cooking performance. If you love cooking and broiling this is definitely your oven!
Waring Pro TCO650 Digital Countertop Convection Oven
Ok, so this oven is a little smaller than the other ones with dimensions of 14.5 x 17 x 10.75 inches, has the capacity of 0.6 cubic feet, that can fit 6 slices of toast or a 12-inch pizza. The oven has bake, convection-bake, broil, toast and a pizza function. Like most ovens it includes an oven rack, baking pan and a crumb tray. Has a small LCD to display time and temperature and touchpad buttons for settings. Being smaller and with less functions it also costs under $100.
Do not let the price tag fool you! Waring Pro TCO650 does its job well, very well. If you want to bake frozen meat, fish, patties it will do it, broiling and toasting bread good as well. Since the performance is fine, lets talk about the design, which… let’s just say does not look too appealing. Furthermore, the time and temperature control knob seem to give some people trouble. It is kinda jerky and goes through time a little fast. Another design problem is the convection bake fan, which is a tad too loud for some people. Also I think I should mention that the “beep” sound when the cooking is done is quite loud, but don’t you wan’t to hear it when your food is done?
Summarizing the performance, price, and design I still have to say that it is a really good convection oven. I think it fits really well for people that are not really picky for design and looks but want things to get done. I think perfect for single people as well, that don’t want to have a big oven but cook a nice dinner from time to time. This convection oven will bake, toast, broil all of the main dishes, AND it’s a great budget option!
Nuwave 20326 Pro Digital-Controlled Infrared Tabletop Oven
Want a secondary oven for much faster, healthier and more convenient cooking for 2-3 people? Nuwave 20326 Pro is the choice for you! It is smaller than other convection ovens and comes in 14 x 14 x 16 inches (can hold a 16 pound turkey) and weights just 16.6 pounds which makes it a great secondary oven or an oven for RVs, small apartments, garages, dorms or boats. As manufacturer states it has Triple Combo Cooking Power which decreases cooking time by 50% and saves power by 85% compared to conventional ovens. This is achieved when convection fan circulates heat equally across the oven, conduction makes the heat go straight to the food, and gentle infrared rays heat food from inside. All this combined cooks food much faster and seals the juices and natural flavors inside without the need of additional fats or oils. Nuwave also does not need preheating, ventilating or defrosting food before cooking, it is very simple to use, just put the food in, set the timer, and wait!
The oven has a digital time and temperature controls. Accessories include 3-inch Extender ring, 2-inch rack, 10-inch baking pan, and a cooking guide cookbook with instructional DVD. All parts except the power head are dishwasher safe.
Lets talk about the cooking. It cooks almost all meals and with no oil or fat needed. Frozen chicken and stake to ribs, lamb chops to roast potatoes and other veggies. The meat and fish come out very moist and veggies on a 2-inch rack roast really good. If cooking is not your favorite thing to do or you are short on time, this might be a good choice, just put everything inside and set the time and temperature.
We know that it cooks fast, healthy and efficiently. But if you like crispy chicken like I do, you might be a little disappointed. Since the dome is really air tight there will be a lot of moisture inside, which will not allow to get that perfect crisp on the chicken and you will not be able to get your favorite toast done, at least not a perfect toast..
While making a great product we believe the manufacturer really messed up with the dome. They are using a plastic dome which is a little hard to clean and a number of reviews told that it cracks over time. Being at quite a high price point it should not have such issues. Even tho it has a 1-year warranty it does not offer replacement parts and you might need to buy them which are not cheap.
The conclusion is pretty clear if you wan’t to cook fast without much effort, want the food to be healthy and make it fast the Nuwave 20326 Pro Digital-Controlled Infrared Tabletop Oven is for you. However, if you want quality and more options, or otherwise don’t want to spend too much there are definitely other options.
BLACK+DECKER CTO6335S 6-Slice Digital oven
And our final product on our best convection oven list is BLACK+DECKER CTO6335S 6-Slice Digital oven. This oven is the cheapest from our list today, but that does not mean it is a bad convection oven! The Black+Decker oven has digital controls with buttons to control temperature, timer (120 minutes), and functions, which are broil (has 2 height positions for better broiling), bake, toast, bagel, pizza, frozen snacks, potatoes, and cookies. Like most ovens it has a removable crumb tray and a broiler pan. You will have no trouble fitting in a 12-inch pizza or 6 slices of bread.
There are a lot of good reviews about this countertop convection oven, surprisingly a lot of them praise Black+Decker for its longevity considering it is the cheapest convection oven on our list. The negative reviews mention that there are some gaps at the bottom where crumbs can fall near the heating elements and it becomes hard to clean after a number of uses, so make sure to clean the oven after every use in order to avoid crumbs burning. Some people encountered problems with the panel or doors getting too hot or receiving damaged frame, but the oven has 2-year warranty and their support seems to be A grade with replacing faulty or damaged units.
Overall, we didn’t get excited about BLACK+DECKER CTO6335S, but considering the price, functions, and support, it is a superb oven on a budget and deserves a place on our best convection oven list.
